How it works

A marketplace is only useful if you can tell where its information comes from. Here is how listings reach this site, what our relationship to each seller is, and what happens when you get in touch.

Finding a vehicle

  1. 1

Start from the work, not the model

Browse by body type, by trade, or by city. Every category and model page explains what the vehicle is actually for and where it stops being the right answer, so you can rule things out before you shortlist.

  2. 2

Check the specification against your loads

Payload, GVWR, towing and body dimensions are shown where the seller supplied them, and marked as not provided where they did not. Our guides cover the arithmetic that decides whether a truck is genuinely big enough.

  3. 3

    See who is selling it

Every listing names the dealership and states our relationship to them. That determines what happens next, and it is shown before you commit to anything.

  4. 4

    Enquire, or go direct

For partner inventory, your enquiry goes to the dealership holding the vehicle. For listings shown for reference, we link you to the original rather than taking your details.

The three seller relationships

Not every vehicle on this site is offered by a dealership we work with. Pretending otherwise would make the site look better and serve you worse, so each listing is labelled and the label changes what we do with your enquiry.

Preferred Owned

Button reads “Check Availability”

This vehicle is offered by a preferred local partner dealership. Your enquiry goes directly to that dealership.

We pass your enquiry to this dealership.

Participating Partner

Button reads “Check Availability”

This vehicle is offered by a participating partner dealership. Your enquiry goes to that dealership, which is the seller of record.

We pass your enquiry to this dealership.

External Reference

Button reads “View Original Listing”

This listing is shown for reference from an outside source. It is not sold by SoCal Work Trucks or any partner dealership, and we cannot confirm its current availability or price. Contact the original seller directly.

We do not take your details for this vehicle — the link goes to the seller.

Where listing data comes from

Partner inventory comes directly from the dealership’s own systems. Reference listings come from commercial inventory data providers covering the wider market. Both can be out of date: a vehicle shown as available may already be sold, and prices change without notice.

We do not edit or improve specifications. Where a seller supplied a figure we show it; where they did not, the page says so. Photographs belong to the sellers and are shown from their own systems rather than copied to ours.

What it costs you

Nothing. SoCal Work Trucks is free to use. We are paid by dealerships for enquiries we send them, which is set out more fully on our about page along with what we do to stop that biasing the advice.
